Physical differences
For talking hypothetically it is best to refer to a mini goldendoodle. The general weight for a mini goldendoodle averages 30 pounds so as such the physical differences kick in. The primary physical differences that exist between female dogs and their male counterparts, particularly make Goldendoodles, are height and weight due to genetic and reproducing hormonal factors. With their mixed genetics, the difference in size would not be as drastically evident as it would be in another breed.
Coat and Appearance
Female vs male goldendoodle. They can have a straight, wavy, or curly coat. They typically do not shed or will do so minimally, making them quite popular among dog-allergic people. The texture of the coat, its color, and its length vary between individual dogs of this breed, but sex plays no role in it.
Training depends much more upon the individual’s personality, race, and childhood upbringing than sex does. Goldendoodle males are certainly no exception to that observation. In most other aspects, however, Goldendoodle behavior is pretty much the same in males vs. females. These dogs are incredibly popular for their mastery of training and performance, abilities which are inherited from these dogs’ poodle and golden retriever ancestors. They are very intellectual and intelligent animals, making their training rather easy.
Male behavior and training. They can be easily distracted during their training session, more so if there are other dogs or interesting smells around. On the positive side, males are usually very eager to please their owners, and this works as a plus during training. They will most likely need continued reminders of their training principles, especially during their ‘adolescent’ stage characterized by boisterous behavior and inquisitiveness about the world around them.
Understanding female behavior and training

Females are often said to be more independent/more persistent in their behavior. Some trainers find females easier to work with because they are less easily distracted and more focused. Like males, female Goldendoodles can go through a ‘teenage’ phase, where their behavior can be more unpredictable.
Training and behavioral issues
A male dog who is not neutered before sexual maturity is likely to show other behaviors likely to mark, lifting the hind leg and urinating in different places to establish territory. This is completely prevented by neutering. One of the difficulties in house-training a female who has not yet had puppies is that such females may have to be confined indoors for as long as 21 days at a time during each heat. During this period it is advisable to isolate them from their midst. It is nothing surprising not to have the male boys repeating fence- jump into your place in quest that other female cyclists come out to play.
Social dynamics
If you already have other pets, consider social dynamics. Male and female dogs can get along with other dogs, but introductions should be done carefully to ensure compatibility. For example, the probability of a conflict between two unrewarded males may be higher than between two unrewarded females.
The Golden Question: Male Doodle or Female Doodle?
It is a very individual choice whether to select a male or female dog. For most people, the single most important factor is whether or not a dog of a particular sex is compatible with those already in your household. A male and female seem to get on best with each other. It is disastrous to find yourself in a situation where you have purchased a companion for your existing dog, only to discover that it has turned your house upside down. Pick a mate for your dog. You should have some playdates with other dogs who come to your home. This will help you determine whether your dog prefers one gender to another. Playdates should always begin with both dogs on a small leash for initial introductions. Following friendly tail-wagging behavior, off-leash play should be ok. Observe playtime and notice how much fun your dog has. If you notice that your dog likes one gender over another, that’s the gender you want to stick to bringing around your dog. Of course, you also need to make sure to allow your dog to have play dates with more than one dog at a time. Dissatisfaction with a particular dog may not have anything to do with gender but might involve its personality or size.
